To no surprise whatsoever, Capcom has announced that more Resident Evil remakes are on the way. Happy days!

Over the years Capcom has seen great success with remakes beginning with Resident Evil in 2002 for the Nintendo GameCube release. More recently we’ve seen the likes of Resident Evil 2 (2019), Resident Evil 3 (2020) Resident Evil 4 (2023) with Resident Evil Village releasing in 2021.

During the PlayStation Partner Awards, Resident Evil 4 remake producer Yoshiaki Hirabayshi informed Game Watch that Capcom plans on giving us even more remakes. Usually, that might not be entirely great news but considering that Capcom has done a fantastic job with its remakes, I’m not complaining. Plus it helps that I’m obsessed with this survival horror franchise.

“We have released three remake series, and we feel that they have been very well received. Both for us and as people who love the previous games, we are very happy that people of today can play them, so we would like to continue this. I hope to be able to provide information about what we will do in the future,” said Hirabayshi.

So the question remains, which remakes will Capcom bring us next? In terms of numerical order, Resident Evil 5 would be a logical choice and it could also be the most interesting. The reason is that RE5 is very much focused on action so it would be intriguing if Capcom flipped that emphasis in the favour of horror and a bit of action.

However, my heart says that I would love nothing more than Resident Evil Code: Veronica and the Outbreak games to be remade. That being said, Resident Evil 0 isn’t the most beloved entry, so that would make for an interesting choice too. What’s more, I think we can all agree that Dino Crisis deserves a remake too.

Either way, it’s going to be exciting years ahead for Capcom survival horror fans.
