Manchester is known for a lot of things. Football, Manchester tarts, Morrissey, Oasis and Coronation Street to name but a few. One thing it is not known for is being a dystopian wasteland where people run about in mechs shooting things. Beyond Flesh and Blood plans to change that.

Made by Pixelbomb Games, an indie studio based in Manchester, the game sees players blasting through levels of hostile forces on a mission to reclaim the surface of the Earth, and hopefully have a bit of time to nip to Northern Quarter for a wicked burger and an overpriced drink. There definitely seems to be a bit of Armoured Core seeping through in the game, but that is by no means a bad thing, especially as Mech games have become less frequent than they once were.

Beyond Flesh and Blood will be releasing on PC, PS4 and Xbox One later this year. To bide you over until then, if you’re a PC user, you can download demos for the game here. Their latest demo includes buildings that are located in the Deansgate region of Manchester, including the iconic Beetham Tower.
