Classic Star Wars Battlefront is back in a big way
Lucasfilm Games has announced that the two original Star Wars: Battlefront games are coming back in a big way for modern consoles.
As the name of the game suggests, Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection will include both the original games from 2004 and 2005, respectively. However, each game will feature 64-player online multiplayer, which is a massive improvement from yesteryear. The modes will be playable online and offline.
The ports will be handled by Aspyr, and will also come with the Hero Assault expansions as well as any previously released bonus content. What’s more, it will also be Steam Deck compatible.
“It’s time to relive intense battles from the Star Wars galaxy in the Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection. Jump into thrilling firefights across massive battlefields on the ground, in the air, and in space as the Empire, Rebellion, Republic, and the Separatist Alliance,” reads the press release. “Choose an array of unique classes, pilot a multitude of vehicles, and play as iconic heroes and villains from multiple eras of the saga in solo, local, and online play.”
Star Wars Battlefront (2004) will include the bonus Jabba’s Palace map, and the sequel will include bonus maps – Cloud City, Rhen Var: Harbor, Rhen Var: Citadel, and Yavin 4: Arena, as well as bonus Asajj Ventress and Kit Fisto playable heroes.

Star Wars: Battlefront Collection will be released on 14 March for PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch. It will have an RRP of £28.99/$35 with some digital platforms offering an additional 10% discount for pre-orders.
