Bandai Namco Games have recently released the Forlorn Hope trailer and a batch of new screenshots for the upcoming release of Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin. The trailer gives us a glimpse at the improved visuals, adjusted enemy placements and finally showing us that the world of Drangleic is going to be even more ruthless this time around.

This edition of the game will include all three of the previously released DLC packs – Crown of the Sunken King, Crown of the Old Iron King and Crown of the Ivory King. Additional NPCs are also being added with the purpose of fleshing out the setting and narrative further than ever before.

Weapons and items that were overused by players before have had their locations altered, and enemy placement is also somewhat different. This should ensure that returning players can’t rely entirely on their memory of the previous release to get by, as expected of something like Dark Souls.

The biggest improvement for many will be the higher framerate – which according to Bandai Namco will be 60 frames per second on both Xbox One and Playstation 4. All platforms are set to receive visual upgrades and an increase in the maximum player count for a single online session. (6 instead of the previous 3).

Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin will release on April 7th in Europe and North America and April 9th in Japan for PS3, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
