Days Gone is reportedly getting a movie adaptation

It seems that Days Gone will be the latest PlayStation Productions video game to movie adaptation, following the success of the Uncharted movie.

According to a report from Deadline, Sheldon Turner (Up in the Air, X-Men: First Classic) will be writing and co-producing with Jennifer Klein on behalf of their Vendetta Productions company. While Asad Qizilbash and Carter Swan (both of the Uncharted movie) will also produce on behalf of Sony.

In terms of leading roles, Sam Heughan (Outlander) will be cast, however, presumably to play the leading role of Deacon St. John. Apparently, the script will be “a love ballad to motorcycle movies; the bike being Deacon’s sole form of transportation, his horse in this would-be, modern-day western.”

If you’re unfamiliar with Days Gone, it’s one of my favourite games of the PS4 era and was criminally underrated, seemingly by Sony. Set in a post-apocalyptic world following a global pandemic, a majority of humanity has been turned into zombie-like creatures known as “Freakers”.

The story follows Deacon St. John, a former member of the Mongrels Motorcycle Club. Deacon’s wife Sarah was presumed dead; however, new information has led him to believe that she might actually be alive and he embarks on her quest to discover the truth.

Furthermore, if you loved TV series such as Sons of Anarchy, Days Gone could be right up your street. So, if you haven’t played it yet, I couldn’t recommend it enough. However, I can’t help but feel saddened that while I like the idea of a Days Gone movie, it’s a shame that Sony is seemingly so reluctant to give us a sequel.
