Devil May Cry 5 is Getting a Next-Gen Re-Release, But No Free Upgrade

Following the PlayStation event last night Capcom announced that the brilliant Devil May Cry 5 will be getting a next-gen port for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.  This port or remaster if you will, takes advantage of the next-gen consoles such as ray tracing technology, an increased framerate of 120fps, improved resolution, enhanced 3D audio and more.

It will also include two new modes, such as the Turbo Mode and the Legendary Dark Knight Mode, both of which includes increased difficulty and gameplay modifiers, such as speed and more enemies on screen.

Additionally, following “overwhelming fan requests”, Vergil will be a playable character in the newly announced Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition.  He will also be coming to the PS4 and Xbox One version of DMC5 at a cost of €4.99 (so I assume around £4+ in the UK).

Sadly however, there will be no free next-gen upgrade, as Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition is a standalone next-gen game, which is great for those that haven’t played the game.  It was also been revealed at the time of writing, that this Special Edition version is not coming to PC for some reason and is only coming to next-gen consoles.  Hopefully Capcom will change that decision in the near future.
