Dragon Ball games are a curious anomaly in the world of licensed fan-service games. Whilst these titles have absolutely nailed the look and feel of the cult hit anime and manga series from as far back as 2001, they just can’t seem to stop trying to re-invent the wheel with the mechanics, often resulting in fair few flops and even some downright embarrassments.

Whilst I personally enjoyed last year’s Battle of Z, a few die-hard fans didn’t particularly appreciate the new direction and battle system; which criminally removed the ki based charge system that the iconic series is known for. Dragon Ball Xenoverse looks to right those wrongs, along with throwing in a ton of fan service and a new feature fans have been craving for years.

In fact, I’d argue that Bandai Namco have switched the dials up to 11. With a huge new time travelling plot and the ability to create and train custom and unique heroes. Dragon Ball Xenoverse looks to be the best attempt yet to re-capture the magic of titles such as Budokai Tenkaichi 3; a game I still hold close to my heart this day.

Of course you still get the huge range of heroes and villains along with a fast and frantic battle system to keep fans entertained to the fullest. Xenoverse will be breaking new ground with a debut release on PS4 and Xbox One, along with the surprise including of a PC port. Yes that’s right, PC gamers will finally be able to get a taste of Dragon Ball Z on Steam. I personally cannot wait for that! Along with the last generation versions for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse will be blasting a Kamehameha into your screens on February 27th, after Bandai Namco has recently confirmed the new launch date. Whilst fans of the series wait in anticipation, here’s an extended look at how the game will look, as well as how the custom character element that has been successfully implemented into the Dragon Ball saga.
