Update 23/01/15:  Following on from the odd delay for physical copies of Dying Light, the publishers did inform us that an update will be coming soon as to when we might expect this delay to end.  Well now we have that update, with new revised dates for Europe, Middle East, Asia and Australia.

While the digital (and pricier) release dates remain the same (27th U.S and 30th for Europe), the physical copies of Dying Light for the affected regions will now release on February 27th, a good month or so later than expected.  North and South America remain unaffected by this delay and they will get their physical copies as planned, with the digital versions also releasing on the same planned date.

As a way of saying sorry for this delay all physical pre-orders of Dying Light will now come with free two DLC packs, Cuisine & Cargo and the Ultimate Survivor bundle.  Additionally the Be the Zombie multiplayer mode in which players take control of the Night Hunter with the ability to invade other players games, will now also be free for all platforms everywhere.  Just make sure you register your pre-order at dockets.dyinglightgame.com.

Below is the statement released by the Dying Light team:

Dear gamers,

As you already know, today we detailed our launch timing for Dying Light. Although the changes affect only the release of boxed copies in certain territories, we want to show all of you our appreciation for your continued support. Thus, we’re really happy to announce that “Be the Zombie” will be available for free to everyone, on all platforms, in all territories.

We’ll also be giving away extra weapon dockets to everyone who pre-ordered Dying Light and signed up at Dockets.DyingLightGame.com.

We want to thank you for your patience and support in this matter and can’t wait for you to enjoy playing Dying Light and invading other players’ game in the “Be the Zombie” mode.

In an odd statement released on the official Dying Light Facebook page, physical copies of the game will suffer “a short delay” in Europe, Middle East, Africa, Asia and Australia.  What’s even more odd, is that in the statement released, there is no explanation for this delay and it appears that North America will get there physical copies on the planned release date.  To add even more fuel to the confusing flames, the developers Techland are based in Poland, but yet physical copies will be delayed in Europe (and other regions), but not the U.S.

The statement also mentions the digital copies of the game, which we’d assume will release on its planned release date.  Obviously with this odd delay and to stop this effecting the games launch furthermore, they are quick to point you in the direction of the more expensive digital format option and they have also changed the release date to a worldwide release.  We don’t know the exact reason for this delay at this time, but it’s not the best preparation for such a highly anticipated new IP.  As soon as we hear more, we’ll update you right here.

Dying Light will now have a global release of January 30th (minus the physical copy fiasco).  To help cushion the blow somewhat, PlayStation Access has released a gameplay video as they travel from point to point on Dying Light map.
