One of the best video games to release in 2023 was Final Fantasy XVI from Square Enix in what was a stacked year for video games.

When talking to Game Informer recently, Final Fantasy producer Naoki Yoshida teased that the Final Fantasy XVI port for PC is near but before it arrives, it looks like it will be getting a playable demo.

“In terms of where we are in development currently, we’re trying to figure out the final stages of optimisation right now,” said Yoshida. “When we can release the PC version might be dependent on that – the system requirements and specifications for PC that players will need, so we’re trying to figure that out. Naturally, [the PC specifications] are looking to be somewhat high.”

He then went on to say: “We’re looking to release a demo for the PC version. We can’t really talk about too much in terms of details of when it’s going to come out – I think in a little bit more time we’ll be in a better place to announce things. But one thing’s for sure: it won’t be too distant in the future; it won’t be a year, it won’t be two years, it will probably be shorter than that, so stay tuned.”

In my review of Final Fantasy XVI for GAMINGbible, I said: “is truly an epic adventure. It has a fantastical story, over-the-top character performances, a sublime soundtrack, epic boss battles and it looks gorgeous to boot. Seriously, what’s there not to love about this game?”

For now, at least, Final Fantasy XVI is available for PlayStation 5.
