Ghostbusters 4v1 multiplayer game releases October

Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed, the 4v1 asymmetrical multiplayer game now has a release date of October 18th.
Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed was announced earlier in the year, and despite not being much into an asymmetrical multiplayer fan, just about anything Ghostbusters will win me over. Well, other than that 2016 movie.

This Ghostbuster multiplayer offering sees a team of four players as the Ghostbusters goes against one player as a powered-up ghost. In theory, this licence should work perfectly with this kind of game. However, there is some reason to be concerned. Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed is developed by Illfonic, the team behind Predator: Hunting Grounds as well as Friday the 13th.
Much like this Ghostbusters game, the Predator game should have worked so well. Sadly, as highlighted in my review, Predator: Hunting Grounds was a wasted use of its licence. Friday the 13th however, lasted about as long as one of Jason Voorhees’ victims at summer camp.

“Form a team with up to three other Ghostbusters to track down Ghosts haunting a number of locales,” reads the official blurb.
“Sniff out paranormal activity with the P.K.E. Meter and charge it to unleash a short-range pulse disabling Ghost movement. Unveil hidden rifts acting as the Ghost’s spawn points and teleportation portals, and destroy them. Use the powerful Particle Throwers to capture the Ghost, deploy a trap, and wrangle them into it before they escape!”

Despite the previous failed attempts of Illfonic, I hope the studio learns from past mistakes and this ends up being a fantastic Ghostbusters multiplayer game. Otherwise, Gozer will not be happy!
