A gothic horror game by the name of House of Caravan has just been announced by developer Rosebud Games. Inspired by the gothic fiction of Edgar Allen Poe, House of Caravan is described as “a twisted tale that creeps up your spine and chills the blood in your veins”. It’s billed as a ‘room escape with a twist’, combining exploration and puzzle gameplay. The game takes place in a mansion in early 20th century USA, where you awake as Lester Barnard after being kidnapped by strangers on the way to school. With little knowledge of how or why you’re there, you’ll have to investigate your surroundings and attempt to escape, and along the way discover the mansion’s sinister history.

The game is being described as a mixture of Gone Home, Crimson Room and P.T., meaning it could be quite the atmospheric and creepy title. The game has also been noted to take around 60-90 minutes of a single playthrough.

A trailer and a few screenshots have been released, which you can take a look at above and below, both giving a good impression of the game’s creepy atmosphere. The dev team consists of industry veterans with credits in games such as Silent Hill: Origins, Fear: Extraction Point and The Witcher, so hopefully House of Caravan will turn out to be a solid horror adventure.

The game is due to release sometime in spring this year for PC and Mac.
