This week, there was a mini Nintendo Direct event and one of the games on show was WWE 2K Battlegrounds, an over-the-top, multiplayer brawler, which releases this year instead of WWE 2K21.  Now if you followed the bug-fest that was WWE 2K20, then you know the decision by 2K to skip this year’s release, so that they can fix the series, was a very wise move indeed.

Will spin-off WWE 2K Battlegrounds fill that void?  Only time will tell, but the reception since its announcement has been very mixed to say the least.  Yesterday at the latest Nintendo Direct, the gameplay on show revealed much of what we’d probably expect from a game influenced by 2011’s WWE All-Stars, which was quite an underrated game in my humble opinion.

WWE 2K Battlegrounds will have online and offline modes, a character creation suite, customisation and more.  It will also have a budget launch RRP of £34.99 for the Standard Edition and £44.99 for the Deluxe EditionWWE 2K Battlegrounds will release for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch on September 18th.
