Back in May, DiRT 5 was revealed and it will be a cross-gen title coming to current and next-gen systems.  DiRT 5 is expected to feature a more in-depth and fulfilling Career mode than ever before and Codemasters have now released some added details as to what to expect from said Career mode, and they also released some brand new screenshots for good measure too.

The Career mode will take you to various continents across the world, while taking on a number of race disciplines.  As you begin your career you will meet Alex Janièek a superstar in the story of DiRT 5, who is voiced by famed videogame voice actor, Troy Baker, who takes you under his wing with the aim of leading you to the top of the sport.  However, you also catch the eye of another up and coming rival, Bruno Durand, voiced by fellow famed actor, Nolan North.  The rivalry of you and Bruno Durand, with Alex Janièek throw into the middle of it all, with be the focus of the story.

The Career mode will be split into five chapters, with each chapter having its own dedicated discipline with multiple paths of your choosing.  In total there will be more than 130 events across nine different race disciplines in the Career mode of DiRT 5.  As you progress in the Career mode you will unlock new chapters and depending on how well you perform, you will earn a number of Stamps.  Those Stamps will then go towards unlocking the Main Event, which will be the most challenging encounter of that particular chapter. Additionally, if you also beat certain objectives throughout the Career, you will unlock a secret Throwdown one-on-one challenge.

As with previous Career modes in the DiRT series, earning sponsorships will play a major role as you climb up the ranks and DiRT 5 will be no exception.  In total there will be 20 real-world brands from Monster Energy, Sparco, Michelin, Fatlace and more, including Codemasters (naturally).  Each sponsor will have their own challenge objectives to meet, which in turn will unlock bonus currency and cosmetics for the livery editor.  The more prestigious sponsors will have more challenging requirements, but they will also come with greater rewards.  If you wish, you can change your sponsors, but that will be at the expense of a loyalty bonus.

Multiplayer will also play a huge role in DiRT 5, normally with your traditional local or online modes.  However, DiRT 5 will feature split-screen co-op in Career mode for up-to four players.  The main player will be the focus of the story, but for those that join you, they will take the place of an A.I driver.  While your friend or family member that joins you will not earn rewards for themselves in your story, they will earn rewards for you and the player with the highest finishing position will count towards earning the best rewards.  So that means you can earn more rewards, more Stamps and meet Sponsor requirements even faster than before.

As an added bonus, additional players that earn XP and currency rewards, it will carry over to their accounts whenever they play DiRT 5 as a host player.  The split-screen multiplayer in the Career mode will also be drop-in and drop-out, as and when they please, without halting your career progression.

DiRT 5 will release this coming October for PC (via Steam), PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X, then for Google Stadia early 2021.  Are you looking forward to DiRT 5?  Let us know across our social media channels.
