Here’s The GTA Remastered Trilogy Trailer And It Looks Better Than I Thought!
Rockstar Games has released the first gameplay trailer for Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition, and it looks better than I thought it would.
I expected Rockstar Games to do a decent job at making this classic trilogy look good. However, judging by the official comparison trailer, they have not only done a wonderful job at making the trilogy look a little more modern, but they’ve also managed to fully maintain its identity.

Sure, you can still tell that these are not new-gen games. But I believe that if Rockstar had gone down that route, they might look like quite different games. I am sure many would have loved that, but I appreciate what they have done here. Each of the games have not only had a boost in resolution, but also fidelity, as well as overall gloss and shine.
Furthermore, each of the games in the remastered trilogy will have modern controls inspired by GTA V. Now, if there was one element that needed revamping, it would be the controls and especially that fixed camera. I tried to play GTA 3 and GTA Vice City not that long ago. And visuals aside, they have not aged all that well in terms of gameplay. So, I also welcome this update.
According to the press release, the remastered will also feature “unforgettable music,” so hopefully that means that each of the awesome soundtracks will make a return.
Elsewhere, other improvements for all platforms include:
- Developed using Unreal Engine
- Improved targeting and lock-on aiming
- Update Weapon and Radio Station Wheels
- Updated Mini-Maps with enhanced navigation allowing players to set waypoints to destinations
- Update Achievements
- Rebuilt lighting, improved shadows, weather, and reflections
- Upgraded character and vehicle models
- Higher resolution textures including buildings, weapons, roads, interiors
- Environmental upgrades to foliage, smoother surfaces, increased draw distances and more.
The Nintendo Switch will have these specific features:
- Gyro aiming
- Touch Screen for camera zooming, pans, and menu selections
The PC version will:
- Support NVIDIA DLSS, as well as additional new Accomplishments via the Rockstar Games Social Club.
Furthermore, YouTube channel ENXGMA has put together a fantastic trailer that looks at the collections various improvements in more depth. You can check out that comparison trailer here.
