Blumhouse Productions, a company known for some very popular horror movies is forming its own game division.

Blumhouse is known for the likes of Paranormal Activity, M3gan, Insidious, Sinister, Get Out and much more. The gaming division known as Blumhouse Games will unsurprisingly focus on indie horror games for PC, consoles and mobile.

As reported by Bloody Disgusting (thanks Eurogamer), Blumhouse Games will develop and publish “original, horror-themed games for console, PC and mobile audiences.

What’s more, as well as being experts in the horror movie genre, Blumhouse Games has appointed Zach Wood as the president who has worked on the likes of Prey: Mooncrash at Arkane Studios as well as The Unfinished Swan for Sony Santa Monica.

There’s a unique opportunity for horror and genre in the indie game space,” said Wood in a statement announcing the news, “and I’m thrilled about teaming up with Blumhouse to meaningfully leverage the company’s brand, reputation, and creative talent.

Furthermore, Don Sechler, former global head of business operations, planning and strategy at PlayStation has been appointed as Chief Financial Officer.

Personally, I think Blumhouse branching out to the world of horror video games could be an excellent move. Will it prove to be a success? Only time will tell.
