Latest Rumour Claims New Splinter Cell Has Been Greenlit
Here we are again, more Splinter Cell rumours. At this point, I’m as numb to this speculation as I am towards a new Silent Hill or Splinter Cell. But perhaps this time, there really is no smoke without fire?
According to sources of VGC within Ubisoft’s development team, Ubisoft has apparently greenlit a new Splinter Cell game. If so, this will be the first new entry in this beloved stealth series in about a decade. Yes, it’s really been that long.
It is claimed that the new Splinter Cell game is already in early production and is being “led by a studio outside of its (Ubisoft’s) traditional Montreal base.” It’s also said that it could even be announced in 2022.
Since the last entry, 2013 Splinter Cell: Blacklist, the franchise and its star Sam Fisher have neglected to appear as a cameo in other Ubisoft games, as well as cookie-cutter mobile games. I know we’ve heard these rumours before, but perhaps this time, the rumours could be true. We can only but hope.
