2K has launched the first episode of Ringside Report which looks at the various aspects of the upcoming WWE 2K22.

In the 16-minute video, the developers at Visual Concepts not only tell us about the improved visuals and lighting of WWE 2K22 but also what improvements they’ve made to the gameplay.

In this first episode we hear from Creative Director Lynell Jinks, Art Producer Christina Diem Pham, Principal Designer Jason Vandiver, Senior Producer Jonathan Rivera, and Senior Designer Derek Donahue.

The developer diary-style video explores improved visuals and animations, improvements made to the game engine, as well as in-game physics including how objects such as tables, chairs, even corner barricades dynamically break and wear over time.

However, for me personally, I was more interested in the improved defensive elements. Such as how blocking and dodging play a huge role in claiming victory in each match. Furthermore, the reversal limit has now been removed, and you can’t see the reversal counter. So, expect the tide of the change to change at a moment’s surprise.

Judging from this first Ringside Report, I get the feeling that the developers at Visual Concepts are trying to find a balance between a traditional fighting game mixed with the WWE 2K series.
