Let’s get nostalgic and take a trip down memory lane with the Mortal Kombat 30th anniversary trailer.

Yes, it’s really been 30 years. I can still remember to this day playing the original Mortal Kombat in the arcades. Fans were not only wowed by its extreme gore for its time, but it was a genuine rival to Capcom’s mammoth Street Fighter 2.

The original Mortal Kombat launched on October 8th, 1992 and the series went on to sell over 79 million copies units worldwide. Over the years, Mortal Kombat has earned great success in the arcades and on home consoles. However, arcades are now a thing of the past for most regions in the world.

Its most recent release, Mortal Kombat 11 which initially launched in 2019 went on to become the fastest-selling game in its franchise history. MK11 sold 15 million units worldwide, while MK Mobile has been downloaded over 150 million times at the time of writing.

In celebration of the 30th anniversary of Mortal Kombat, NetherRealm Studios has released a wonderful trailer taking us on a brief journey throughout the series from 1992 to the modern day. What fond memories do you have of the Mortal Kombat series? Let us know across our social media channels.
