Since Mafia II: Definitive Edition released last month, there have been reports throughout the gaming community of countless bugs and glitches experienced when playing the game.  I have all but written up my review and I too have experienced odd graphical glitches, that annoying 2K logo that won’t disappear in-game, the background music playing way to loud, so much so that it’s difficult to hear the dialogue, as well as the game crashing.

My initial review draft hasn’t painted this remaster in a very good light, and I was on the verge of publishing it, so it seems that this update has been released at just the right time for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

For Mafia II: Definitive Edition, the update aims to remove the annoying 2K account logo, improve performance (I assume in regards to the shocking framerate on PS4), fix an error regarding the “Enforcer” PS4 trophy sometimes not unlocking, as well addressing “reported concerns” related to game audio and to refine gameplay.  As well as fixing an issue regarding Mafia II legacy saves on PC that was sometimes not working on Steam.

Mafia III: Definitive Edition is also getting an update that will improve the graphics for the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X, following reports that these versions were not making use of the 4K capabilities.  The Update will also fix general bugs.

Hopefully this update will fix both games, in particular Mafia II: Definitive Edition and I’ll adjust my review accordingly, should the update do its job.
