The Whispered World 2 4

Spot, or the chubby little caterpillar thing that we were first introduced to in the original title is making a return here in Silence: The Whispered World 2. Spot had his uses in the first game, but it seems in this sequel, Spot is going to be more of a key component to some of the game’s puzzles. His uses go beyond being a cute sidekick, and there are 9 revealed uses for Spot in order to aid you in your quest.

  • ‘Big Spot’ enables him to suck things in with his mouth. For example, Spot can fill himself with air, making him inflate and letting him fly around, or even use himself as a safety pillow if you need to drop from heights.
  • ‘5er Spot’ simply allows him to divide himself – potentially useful for getting through tight spaces, and also apparently some defence against Lumis (evil creatures).
  • ‘Flat Spot’ is the opposite of ‘Big Spot’, and lets him deflate to become very small. This gives him the ability to reach inaccessible areas, as well as carry people and build bridges.
  • ‘Fire Spot’ allows him to catch fire, and therefore set other items alight.
  • ‘Dragon Spot’ is the state where Spot can carry dangerous liquids such as lava.
  • ‘Water Spot’ is where Spot becomes his own watering can, filling himself with water and then dumping it on vegetation to make things grow.
  • ‘Honey Spot’ allows Spot to hum once he has ingested honey, giving off a calming effect.
  • ‘Helium Spot’ allows him to inhale helium, fly around, as well as become invisible…and hopefully make really cute squeaking noises.
  • And finally, ‘Acid Spot’ makes Spot capable of transporting acids. I’m not entirely sure how this mode is supposed to differ from ‘Dragon Spot’, but I guess we’ll find out in the not too distant future.

Aside from his practical uses, Spot is also a faithful companion. He is Noah’s lovable pet, and I’m sure he’ll be the centre of some humorous and sweet moments.
