Update: 19/02/15: A little further down the article, we detailed some awesome fight pads that will be coming to the Xbox and PlayStation consoles, though we were unclear at the time, as to whether the one fight pad will also be functional on both PlayStation consoles (at the time we only knew that it would work with both Xbox consoles).  Well we can confirm that the Mortal Kombat X Fight Pads will work on each respect console, so if you have an Xbox 360 and Xbox One, you’ll only need the one fight pad, the same goes for PlayStation.  They will carry an RRP of $49.99, so I’m guessing that they should be £39.99 here in the UK and they will launch alongside the game on April 14th.

Below is a snippet from the official press release, with all the need to know details.

PDP is proud to announce the release of Mortal Kombat X Wired Fight Pads available in two versions—one compatible with Xbox One/Xbox 360/PC and one for PlayStation 4/PlayStation 3 systems.

The innovative multi-compatible Mortal Kombat X Wired Fight Pads are officially-licensed by Microsoft, Sony Computer Entertainment America, and Warner Bros. Consumer Products, on behalf of Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. The unique platform selection switch allows gamers to use one controller for Xbox One/Xbox 360/PC and one for the PlayStation 4/PlayStation 3 systems.

Designed to optimize gameplay for Mortal Kombat X, the upcoming game developed by NetherRealm Studios and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, the controllers feature a 6 button arcade-style layout and a precision D-pad for optimal hand positioning. All 6 face buttons utilize micro-switches, giving the player tactile and audible feedback – perfect for quick, flawless combos. The low-profile system buttons make the controllers ideal for fighting games by reducing accidental game interruptions.

The launch of the Mortal Kombat X Wired Fight Pads will align with the April 14 release of the Mortal Kombat X game for a suggested retail price of $49.99, and is now available for pre-order on Amazon and GameStop.

Original: 09/01/15: It has been announced on the official DC Comics Twitter page that there will be a digital comic series for the forthcoming Mortal Kombat X (I’m hoping there will be a physical comic too).  The Mortal Kombat X comic series will be written by Shawn Kittlesen with the interior art work created by Dextor Soy.  Also on NeoGAF some images were revealed showcasing series veterans Scorpion, Sub-Zero and Raiden.

Though there appears to be another character that we do not know yet with a Darth Maul look going on, not to mention he is wielding two Lightsaber-like weapons.  We do not know at this time whether this character is exclusive to the comic series or if in fact he’ll be introduced into the new game, we’ll keep you posted when we hear more.  Checkout the Tweet and concept art images below, which includes the new character in question.

Also a snazzy new fight pad has been announced for Mortal Kombat X, which has a similar button layout to that of an arcade stick (which I’m sure will be announced soon).  Interestingly the fight pad also has a switch that enables you to use the MKX fight pad on both the Xbox 360 and Xbox One.  The controllers will also release for the PlayStation consoles, so hopefully there will be a function to switch from PS3 to PS4.  You can check out the tweet below with images of the control pad and also a demonstration video too.

Mortal Kombat X will release on April 14th for the PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
