Capcom has announced that the digital release of Resident Evil HD Remaster is their fastest selling digital title in their rich history.  It also broke the record of being the biggest selling day one title on the PSN Store.  This may not be so much of a big deal to some, but it’s been no secret that Capcom has been struggling somewhat in recent years, so for finance reasons alone, it’s great news for them and their fans.  Hopefully with Resident Evil HD Remaster selling so well, it might just lead on to a Resident Evil Zero HD Remaster, which in my opinion is one of the series most underrated games.

We can also look forward to the first episode of Resident Evil Revelations 2 releasing on the 24th of this month for PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.  Who knows, if Resident Evil Revelations 2 sells well, it might even spur Capcom on to make more new and genuine Survival Horror titles for the long running series?

Below are words from the producer  of Resident Evil HD Remaster, Yoshiaki Hirabayashi on this announcement “It’s been great to see so many positive comments from fans that have enjoyed this new release. The team here at Capcom Japan have worked hard to bring the game to the latest generation of consoles and we are thrilled at this news on its performance.”

You can watch a special thank you video from Hirabayashi above and as an extra special thank you, Capcom has gifted us with a Spencer Mansion themed desktop wallpaper for your PC, you can download it here.
