Capcom has announced that the Resident Evil series has now sold an impressive 100 million units of their games worldwide.  They have also revealed that their series’ taking up the other five slots are Monster Hunter bringing in 64 million units, Street Fighter 45 million units, Mega Man 36 million units, Devil May Cry 22 million units and finally, Dead Rising with 14 million unit sales.

Taking up the largest chunk of Resident Evil series sales is Resident Evil 5, Resident Evil 6 and Resident Evil 7: Biohazard only being separated by 100,000 units, hovering around the 10 million range.  Then the Resident Evil 2 remake follows up with 6.6 million unit sales, the original RE2 bringing in 4.96 million units, the Resident Evil 3 remake raking in 2.7 million, while the original RE3 brought in 3.5 million unit sales.  The golden goose that is Resident Evil 4, which has released on just about every platform possible has brought in about 7 million unit sales.

So with all these impressive sale numbers, I think it’s safe to say that Capcom will capitalise on the series success and it will be interesting to see the next-gen sale numbers for Resident Evil: Village, which is set to release next year for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X.
