Silent Hill 2 remake has been officially revealed, PS5 timed exclusive

The Silent Hill 2 remake was officially announced by Konami during the “Transmission” presentation.
As previous reports claimed, this will be developed by Bloober Team. The studio is responsible for Layers of Fear, The Medium, and Blair Witch. An opening trailer revealed James Sunderland in a restroom as he was in the OG Silent Hill 2 before we heard the restless dream poem.
Overall, the trailer seemed to have a blend of cinematics and gameplay with an over-the-shoulder perspective. Bloober Team aims to retain what made the OG SH2 great, but modernise it with presentation and gameplay.

During the presentation, we learned that artist Masahiro Ito will return to help design the monsters and Akira Yamaoka will once more compose. Both individuals played a huge role with Team Silent back in the day in the original games.
Elsewhere in the trailer saw Maria, Mary’s doppelganger, that little brat Laura, the Red Pyramid Thing, as well as the bubble nurses and more. In fairness, the world and its monsters looked good.
However, I still have doubts about Bloober Team. After all, none of their games has been great. They’ve mostly been fine, but nothing that really stood out. This concerns me considering that Silent Hill 2 is such a beloved IP. That being said, as a massive Silent Hill fan, I hope that invalidates my doubts.

Furthermore, it’s a shame that the original Silent Hill skipped with a modern remake. I know there were Shattered Memories, but let’s be honest, a lot of fans never played that game and it wasn’t all that great. Additionally, the Silent Hill 2 remake has a 12-month exclusivity period on PC and PS5, before coming to Xbox Series X|S.
