Bethesda sci-fi RPG Starfield is looking every bit as breathtaking as we hoped during its dedicated showcase event over the weekend.

The gameplay deepdive went on for a good 45 minutes, so there’s simply too much to detail in this short article. However, Bethesda chief Todd Howard took to the digital platform and revealed that Starfield has a whopping 1000 planets to explore. Whether those planets will be meaningful or lacklustre, only time will tell. That being said, trying not to get too carried away, but Starfield is looking very promising thus far.

You will be able to customise your ships, and base, hire recruits to explore the galaxy or assign them to be in charge at one of your bases. There will be main story missions, side-quests, space dogfight battles, light-speed travel, deep character customisation, and so much more.

What’s more, not to trigger PTSD from The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion fans, but it seems that the adoring fan is back! “By Azura, by Azura, by Azura! (If you know, you know). Honestly, I’m already thinking about booting that little price into space.

“In the year 2330, humanity has ventured beyond our solar system, settling new planets, and living as a spacefaring people. You will join Constellation – the last group of space explorers seeking rare artefacts throughout the galaxy – and navigate the vast expanse of space in Bethesda Game Studios’ biggest and most ambitious game,” reads the press release.

“Along the way, you will join in the adventures of various factions; pilot and customise your ship; explore planets and discover their local flora, fauna, and resources; build outposts; and master a refined combat system to deal with threats of all kinds.”

Bethesda also announced the various editions of Starfield that will be available at launch. There will be the standard edition, the Premium Edition as well as the Constellation Edition. Players that pre-order either of the two latter editions, will have up to five days early access to the game.
