The System Shock remake has finally gone gold, meaning that its launch is officially near.

The original System Shock was released for PC way back in 1994 and is considered to be an inspiration to the likes of BioShock and more. Once more developed by Nightdive Studios and published by Prime Matter, System Shock is set to release on the Epic Games Store on 30 May.

The System Shock remake is built from the ground up while maintaining what made the original game so special. Nightdive Studios will be updating the visuals, gameplay, interface, sound effects, music and more.

What’s more, the remake will also feature: “Never-before-seen enemies, quality-of-life gameplay tweaks, a revamped hacking system, and visceral new combat options featuring a brutal dismemberment system also await players new and old.”

In System Shock: “a legion of hostile and mutated creatures — created and controlled by the delightfully villainous SHODAN herself — await players as they make their way through Citadel Station’s all-new areas, flexing their puzzle-solving skills and hacking prowess to reach new sectors of the station.

“Players will also encounter traps, puzzles and secrets in their pursuit of (hopefully) defeating SHODAN once and for all. A combination of stealth, cunning, and futuristic weaponry will be required to survive. When the System Shock remake arrives, players’ puzzle-solving and survival skills will be put to the test.”

System Shock will release this month and at a later date for PS5, PS4, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
