Telltale Games have made a wide selection of games over the years, using cult characters such as Strongbad and Sam & Max, then slowly branching into franchises such as Jurassic Park, Back to the Future and, their biggest hit yet, The Walking Dead.

Since the success of The Walking Dead things have progressed rapidly for the developer. They’ve created four new episodic games since the release of The Walking Dead Season 1 last year such as season 2 of The Walking Dead, The Wolf Among Us, Tales from the Borderlands and more recently with Game of Thrones. But there has been a distinct lack of material for the younger audience.

It’s a good thing then that one of the defining games of the younger generation is going to have a Story Mode made for it by Telltale Games. A game that has very little lore to it with people creating their own worlds. That game of course is Minecraft and the game being made is Minecraft: Story Mode.

Mojang and Telltale Games will be collaborating together on the project and both have made it clear that it will follow the episodic formula of previous Telltale games and will not be an official lore. It is looking to scratch the itch for people that love fan fiction and will be using members of the community to help shape the story.

Whether or not it is a success, we will have to wait and see. With it appearing on Playstation, Xbox, PC and mobile devices however there will be plenty of ways to play it when it releases in 2015. For more information check out this brilliant interactive press release from Mojang.
