CD Projekt Red has finally announced the release date for the new-gen version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S version of The Witcher 3 was first announced back in September 2020. However, since that time it has suffered multiplayer delays. So hopefully, this December release date will stay true.

The new-gen version of The Witcher 3 promises: “dozens of visual, performance, and technical enhancements over the original. These include ray tracing support, faster loading times on consoles, as well as a variety of mods integrated into the experience, among many others.

Furthermore, the new-gen version (as well as for PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch) will all receive Netflix-themed DLC as well as an update featuring “numerous additions and improvements”. However, the additional update and content for the last-gen version will be “announced soon.

If you already own The Witcher 3 on PC, PS4 or Xbox One, you will receive the new-gen update for free. However, if you don’t already own the game, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Complete Edition will be available to purchase for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Additionally, the Complete Edition will include the Hearts of Stone, and Blood & Wine Expansions. The PC version will also automatically update when the new and improved version of the game arrives next month.
