Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time had some new gameplay revealed at last night’s State of Play.  We got to see around five minutes of gameplay featuring some of the new playable characters, locations, power-ups and more.

However, what was most impressive about the Crash 4 showcase was the new Mirror Mode, which isn’t just a simple level played in reverse.  Each level will be playable in N. Verted Mode once any level is complete and not only will they be played in reverse, but they’ll also come with unique game-changing mechanics and new visual presentations.  The main developers of Crash 4, Toys for Bob, teamed up with Beenox to develop the N. Verted Mode.

On the PlayStation Blog, Activision’s James Mattone explained “When playing in a dimension on N. Verted mode, that dimension may involve splattering paint to see your path forward, or keeping up with an old timey film reel that cranks up gameplay speed just as fast as it puts the picture on the screen,

Additionally at State of Play, it was revealed that Crash will be joined by Coco, Dr Neo Cortex and Dingodile as playable characters, each will come with their own unique abilities, as well as their own playable levels.

Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time will release for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on October 2nd.  You can read our review of Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy here.
