Sony has given us our first proper look at the PSVR2, and it looks wonderful. Its design perfectly complements the PS5 console.

When the PSVR2 was first revealed in January, other than technical details, we only got a look at the Sense Controllers, which were black. So, I assume that was some kind of prototype colour. However, courtesy of the PS Blog, as you can see from the images provided, the PSVR2 and its controllers are white to match the PS5 console.

At first glance, the design of the PSVR2 and its controllers is kind of what I’d expect from a PSVR and Oculus Quest 2 hybrid. The headset is designed with a “circular orb shape” which is said to represent “the 360-degree view that players feel when they enter the virtual reality world, so this shape captures it nicely.

The design of the PSVR2 is also said to complement the design of the DualSense Controller as well as the Pulse 3D headset. In terms of comfort, the PSVR2 will have a lens adjustment dial to match the lens distance between the eyes. The PSVR2 is also designed to be lighter than the original model for the PS4.

It’s quite impressive to think that the PSVR2 is lighter than the original model, considering all the new features such as the built-in motor for added gameplay feedback. The headset will also have vents similar to that of the PS5 so it should be nice and cool on your cranium.

In terms of aesthetics, if you looked closely at the DualSense controller, then you might have noticed the tiny PlayStation symbols. Well, the PSVR2 has the same imprinted logos.

To recap some of the more technical details, the PSVR2 will support 4K HDR, a display resolution of 2000×2040 for each eye and a framerate of 90/12Hz. Furthermore, it will also feature a 110-degree field of view and foveated rendering.

That is not all, because it also features inside-out tracking through your controllers via the integrated cameras embedded in the headset. Not to mention 3D Audio as well as controller haptic feedback and adaptive triggers.

At this time, we still don’t have a release date for the PSVR2, nor do we have a price. However, I expect the PSVR2 to be very expensive. Do you plan on picking up a PSVR2? Let us know across our social media channels.
