Jade Raymond is fronting a new Sony development Studio called Haven and they’ll be working on an unannounced IP.

In 2015, Jade Raymond was leading the charge of a new EA studio by the name of Motive, and she was also in charge of Visceral Games.  However, EA being EA, the promised Star Wars game with Amy Hennig never happened.

So in 2018, Raymond left Motive Studios and joined Google as vice-president and would play a leading role in the development of video games for Google Stadia.

Well, Google Stadia being Google Stadia, which is a dumpster fire that will inevitably burn out by the end of 2021.

In February this year, Jade Raymond announced that she’d jumped from the sinking ship that is Google Stadia, and yesterday it was announced that she’ll be joining Sony spearheading the Haven Studio.

Most of Jade Raymond’s success was during the early stages of her career with Ubisoft producing titles such as the original Assassin’s Creed, Assassin’s Creed 2, and Splinter Cell: Blacklist.

More recently Raymond has been involved with the likes of 2014s Assassin’s Creed: Unity, Far Cry 4, and Star Wars: Battlefront 2 in 2017.

Now I am a fan of Jade Raymond, but it seems over the last few years she’s not had the best of luck joining the likes of EA’s Motive Studio and Google Stadia.  However, I hope that her fortunes will change as she’s working with Sony leading the Haven Studio.

We want to create worlds where players can escape, have fun, express themselves, and find community,” said Raymond on a PlayStation Blog post.

We want to pour our passion into a project. We want to make something wondrous for people to experience. Because we believe in the power of games to bring joy to people’s lives. And Sony does, too. Their commitment to excellence is unmatched. It’s why I couldn’t be happier for their backing and support.

Judging by Raymond’s words of “couldn’t be happier for their backing and support”, I’d say that Haven isn’t perhaps an exclusive Sony studio and it might be a similar deal to that of Kojima Productions producing Death Stranding.

Jade Raymond concluded: “Together, we want to create games that are a haven for players, and we want to build a studio that is a haven for developers.

So, while we don’t have many details to announce today, I want the PlayStation community to know that Haven Studios is already hard at work on an unannounced IP. We can’t wait to show you more!

I think Jade Raymond is a developer that likes new challenges, which is perhaps why she’s taken some risky moves in her career.  However, I would like to wish Jade Raymond all the success, and Haven and I can’t wait to see what this unannounced IP will be like.
