A Gran Turismo 7 player has created an exploit to farm credits as a fightback against Polyphony Digital making the game more grindy.

Gran Turismo 7 is a fantastic racing game, which is why I gave it a 9.5 in my review. However, with microtransactions implemented into the game post-launch and in-game rewards being reduced, fans got frustrated.

Fans believe that these changes were made post-launch to push players towards making microtransactions purchases with real-world money. To be fair, it’s hard to argue against that. Then the game was offline for well over a day due to maintenance, meaning that for a game that requires a constant online connection, players could access the majority of its features.

All these issues (and then some) resulted in Gran Turismo 7 getting review bombed on Metacritic making it Sony’s lowest-scoring game of all time. Yikes!

However, to combat the deliberate grind, a player has published a script-based exploit which basically earns currency without you even having to play the game. Basically, the exploit uses the PS Remote Play app via a PC and a script that controls the game on your behalf.

The script is created by Septomor and according to an article from VGC, a player claims to have earned 550k credits in just an hour. Apparently, the script is not that straightforward to set up and I doubt most players will attempt to use it.  To compare, 250k credits costs £4 or £8 for 750k via the PSN Store.

That being said, it just shows the lengths some players will go to combat the post-launch grind. I personally wouldn’t recommend using it just in case it results in a ban. Hopefully Polyphony Digital will make a U-turn on its post-launch grind and the in-game rewards will return to as they were.
