Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will not have a playable demo, confirms developer
Back in the 90s and 2000s, playable demos were plenty courtesy of demo discs from your favourite video game magazines.
Even more recently, during the PS3 and Xbox 360 era, demos were also fairly common on digital storefronts. Sadly, however, demos today are not as frequent as we’d like. So when a generous demo is released for a major release with Final Fantasy XVI, it’s a welcomed addition by the video game community.
So with Final Fantasy XVI being a timed PS5 exclusive, apparently some fans were hoping that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will follow the lead of the popular JRPG franchise. To no surprise whatsoever, developers Insomniac Games have confirmed that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will not be having a playable demo.
A fan asked Insomniac Games if there will be an upcoming playable demo and the developer simply replied: “no plans for a demo.” To be honest, I can’t remember the last time Sony released a playable demo for a massive AAA release, not to mention that the first Marvel’s Spider-Man didn’t have a demo either.
That being said, at some point post-launch, it’s not outside the realm of possibility that there will be a Time Limited Trial for PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will be released exclusively for PlayStation 5 on 20 October 2023.
