PlayStation Plus is getting another price hike
It’s never nice to have items you need or love increase in price, especially during a cost of living crisis. Unfortunately, however, things are going to get a little more expensive for PS Plus subscribers.
Announced alongside the PS Plus Essential monthly games which include the Saints Row reboot, Black Desert: Traveller Edition and Generation Zero the price hike for 12-month subscriptions will take effect on 6 September.
Ahh September 🍂 Along with crunchier leaves, we're also getting three new PlayStation Plus Monthly Games

Here’s how much the prices on 12-month subscriptions will be going up:
- PS Plus Essential £49.99 to £59.99/€71.99/$79.99 USD
- PS Plus Extra £83.99 to £99.99/€125.99/$134.99
- PS Plus Premium £99.99 to £119.99/€151.99/$159.99
It’s worth keeping in mind that the price hike will not affect current 12-month subscriptions until it’s time for renewal. However, if you downgrade or upgrade before the renewal, you will pay the increased price.
Sony justifies the price hike so that it can “continue bringing high-quality games and value-added benefits to your PlayStation Plus subscription service.” If you can afford to pay the 12-month subscription rather than monthly or quarterly, that will still be the best way to save money in the long run and if possible, try to renew during official PlayStation promotions in the hope of getting an additional discount.
