Over the years, as a fan of horror, very few games have unnerved me quite like the Little Nightmares series originally developed by Tarsier Studios.

The first game in the series was released in 2017 for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and later for Nintendo Switch, and Little Nightmares went on to be one of my favourite horrors in recent years. Then we were treated to Little Nightmares II in 2021 which was released on the same platforms as its predecessor before a new-gen port was handled by Supermassive Games.

In August 2023, Little Nightmares III was announced with Supermassive Games taking over full development and the game would also be fully playable in co-op with a friend as well as solo. No release date has been announced for Little Nightmares III at the time of writing, but it will be released at some point this year for PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch.

However, before the third game in the series arrives, it looks like the original game is getting a new-gen Enhanced Edition for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, that’s at least according to an ESRB rating spotted by Gematsu. No details were provided, but it’s safe to assume that it will have improved 4K visuals, faster loading times, and DualSense features for the PS5. Hopefully, just like the second game, Little Nightmares Enhanced Edition will be a free upgrade for owners of the original game.

I’ll keep you posted as soon as I hear of official confirmation on the expectant Little Nightmares: Enhanced Edition.
