I would hope I speak for everyone when I say that our hearts go out to all those effected by the horrible tragedy that has recently befallen japan. I would also hope that most of us feel a strong desire to help those in need however we can, especially since Japan is a country that all us gamers owe a significant debt of gratitude for the very existence of our hobby. However I know donating to charities can be a little awkward these days; handing out credit card info to companies you’ve never heard of until now is always rather daunting and there’s the constant threat of scumbags who will use peoples good will as the basis for a massive scam.

Well if you’re a PlayStation Network user then things just to super easy. As of 18th of March you can now make donations of either £2, £5, £10 or £20 directly to the Red Cross Tsunami Appeal through the PlayStation Store! Any donation will earn you an exclusive “Sunrise Blossom Theme” for the PS3 as a nice little thank-you. But just to lay any cynical thoughts you may be having to rest: there’s no money spinning element to this campaign, every single penny of your donation goes stright to the Red Cross who will use that money for deploying personnel, sending relief supplies, providing finical resources and various other tasks vital for helping Japanese citizens recover from this awful event. So please, if you’ve the money to spare then have a heart, even if it’s just £2 it’s enough to make a difference to those currently suffering overseas.
