Before you proceed to read on, please beware that if you have not finished Episode One ‘All That Remains, there will be spoilers ahead.  My following review may differ to that of yours, as Telltales The Walking Dead will adapt and change according to the choices that you make.

Following directly from the events of episode one; Clem attends a spot of hunting with Nick and his uncle Pete, when suddenly they are attacked by a pack of Walkers, temporarily splitting the small group up.  Nick manages to escape, but while Clem was defending Pete, unfortunately he got bit by those pesky walkers and  we know how that usually ends up.

Clem returns back to the house in which she found haven in the last episode, to inform Carlos and the remainder of the group members of the unfortunate incident that had occurred.  The group decide to go out and search for Pete and Nick, leaving Clem at home with Carlos’s naive (but older then Clem) daughter Rebecca.  Their hope was that the two girls would be safer in the confines of their home.  This as I’m sure you can guess, did not go as the plan intended.

During episode one, Carlos spoke of a dangerous group led by a man named Carver.  Not long after Clem and Rebecca were left alone in the house, an intimidating man approached the door and made his way into the home, interrogating Clementine with some harsh questions.  But we know that our Clem is no push over and she holds her own…well as long as you provide the correct answers to the man’s questions of course.

The group soon arrive home and the girls tell them of the intruder.  Carlos especially is rattled by this news and he fears that this man was in fact Carver and the group decide to leave before Carver returns backed up with some heavies.  The group flee their home and head for high ground, hoping to once and for all to find a new safe home, but if you’re familiar with The Walking Dead universe, then you would know that true safe havens are few and far between.

Since episode one, it seems that Nick is somewhat of a loose cannon and is particularly even more on edge in A House Divided and just when the group believe that events could not get any worse, Nick goes and blows that small hope out of the water.  But there is still a small shining light, as when the group are on the verge of losing all hope, they find a potential new home and Clem meets a very familiar face.

There’s an old saying which goes something like this “When something is too good to be true, it usually is” and in most cases, this saying speaks the truth.  But Clem and the group cannot afford to be picky during these hard times, even if it only results with one decent night’s sleep and some dodgy food in their stomachs, they’ve got to make the most of what they can and some risks have to be worth taking.

The group have a roof over their heads for at least one night, but they can’t help but feel on edge, worrying that they will be tracked down by this man known as Carver.  But for now Carver might be the least of their worries and there’s another saying that sums up episode two very well indeed and that’s a “calm before the storm.”  Sometimes when nothing is happening, this can be the tensest of moment and this certainly is the case with A House Divided.

Unlike most single AAA titles, It’s difficult to review each episode of The Walking Dead without giving away any spoilers, but then it wouldn’t be wise to read this article before actually playing the game.  Season one will always be difficult to top and with episode one of season two, fans had very high expectations and rightly so.  But while I enjoyed All That Remains ever so much, it had a very tough act to follow and it was for this reason that I had some doubts that Telltale Games would be able to replicate the experience and emotion that season one provided.

Without giving much more away, those doubts were soon washed away come the end of A House Divided and I can say with the upmost confidence, that this latest chapter is a true return to form for the series and will be one of the most thrilling, on edge episodes that fans of the series will experience.  With so many great episodes to pick from, A House Divided will be one of my most memorable, enjoyable episodes yet and I cannot wait to hear your thoughts in the comments section below.  Bring on episode three In Harm’s Way.
