During a conversation with IGN, Tai Yasue has openly commented that bringing Kingdom Hearts 1 & 2 to the PS4 and Xbox one is “something they will explore“. Setting the games up on PS4 and Xbox One would be a great refresher to Sony owners, but will be a much needed engagement for Xbox users who didn’t purchase or play the previous instalments on the PS3 or PS2. Either way this is a unique situation for a variety of people to experience the games story, especially with Kingdom Hearts 3 on the horizon coming to new gen systems.

My only concern, which was also addressed by Yasue-san, was time;

It’s a big old question,” he says. “There’s a lot of things we need to think of when we consider consoles. One of them is what our players want, so we will definitely consider that. But there’s also schedule constraints, as we really don’t want the development of Kingdom Hearts III going later, so we have that to think about. We’ll consider all these things and come to a decision.

It brings me great delight that this was addressed directly, with too many promises made for future releases already pushed back recently, it’s nice to see less sacrifice for better focus.  Keep your eyes peeled to Push-Start for further Kingdom Hearts goodness.
