Music lovers and TV lovers, It’s time to get ready for some exciting news, as the PlayStation Blog EU has confirmed that PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 users will have access to both Spotify and Sky TV respectively.

Spotify

Spotify will be exclusive to PlayStation and will part of their PlayStation Music section.  PlayStation Network users will enjoy the convenience of linking their accounts to Spotify, making it easy to sign-up with your existing ID’s and subscribe to Spotify’s Premium service. The most important news to come from this announcement is the fact you can indeed use Spotify whilst playing games on the PS4. Giving you the opportunity to play your playlists during your favourite games. Music to our ears.

PlayStation Unlimited folks may be disappointed however, because the Music Unlimited service will close in all 19 countries on 29th March 2015. Nearly all of these countries will be among the 41 markets where PlayStation Music featuring Spotify will be available at launch, including the UK, France, Germany, Spain and Italy.

From 28th February 2015, Music Unlimited users with active subscriptions will receive free access to Music Unlimited through 29th March 2015. No release date for Spotify has been confirmed yet, but we are expecting it to be during March.

Sky

Sky has appeared on our consoles before, however it is the first time Sky will be making the leap to new-gen consoles. PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 users will be able to reap in the benefits of Sky with an existing Sky TV subscription. If you do not have Sky Go as part of your package, Sky are offering two free months, before charging £5 a month for the service. The Sky TV app is available on both platforms now.
