Resident Evil 8 Rumours Suggest 1st Person Will Return and Features Werewolves?
One of the most fun aspects leading up to any big gaming convention such as E3, is all the rumours and speculation that relentlessly crawls from beneath the woodwork and this time, it’s the turn of Resident Evil. While many of us are getting hot under the collar for the latest remake in the series, Resident Evil 3, it’s perhaps easy to forget that at some point we will be getting a brand new entry, especially following the success of Resident Evil 7 which released in 2017.
RE7 left it wide open for a follow-up considering its conclusion and Capcom themselves made it no secret that RE8 will arrive at some point, but official details such as story, gameplay and a release window have naturally been kept close to their chest. However, a Resident Evil fan blog (BiohazardCast) claims that an email was sent to their tipline revealing details about Resident Evil 8.
Naturally, with any unconfirmed rumours and speculation, we must take all the below information with a huge pinch of salt, but the rumours suggest that Ethan Winters will be returning as a playable character, Chris Redfield will return in some form, just like RE7, RE8 will once again be in 1st-person, the game will begin in a village, leading to a castle in “rural, snowy and mountainous” locations, believed to be located in Europe.
Apparently zombies will return and it won’t feature the Molded from RE7, there will also be a “persistent shadowy female” that will stalk you throughout, but will dissipate if shot, which sounds much like a ghostly Mr X or Nemesis, perhaps similar to that of the chilling Anima ghost from The Evil Within 2, oh and finally, RE8 will apparently feature werewolves. I know the latter may seem crazy, but the series already features the Eliminator Monkey’s from RE0 and of course the Cerberus Dogs, to name but two. So as crazy as it sounds, the consideration of Werewolves isn’t entirely outside of the realms of possibility in this wacky series.
That all said, these are just rumours and they could all just be made-up. It’s also worth noting that some of the above information is backed up by Twitter user Nibel, who has a reliable track record of leaked information. To add, personally, I believe its more than likely that when Resident Evil 8 releases, it will be a next-gen title, perhaps another year or two away.
