In July 2015, Jade Raymond who had worked on the likes of Assassin’s Creed and Watch Dogs for Ubisoft, joined EA along with former Naughty Dog developer Amy Hennig.  Jade Raymond would lead a new studio under the EA portfolio known as Motive.  Then later in the year it was revealed that Raymond would be working on an open-world, “Assassin’s Creed style” game.

While Amy Hennig was working on a totally different project for EA, which would be a Star Wars game, earlier this year a big spanner was thrown into the works leaving that very Star Wars game on the shelf.  However, EA has been dealt another major blow, as now Jade Raymond has left the Montreal based Motive studio.  Under Raymond’s leadership, Motive also aided Amy Hennig with the now shelved Star Wars title (BOOOO!) as well as lending help on Star Wars Battlefront 2.  In a statement provided to Venture Beat confirming Jade Raymond’s departure, it was revealed that Motive will now be lead by Samantha Ryan, who also leads EA’s mobile Maxis as well as BioWare.

While no reason was given as to why Jade Raymond has departed, EA did thank her for her contributions and wished her well in future, they said “In her time with us, Jade helped to build great teams, and our projects underway at Motive and other studios continue unchanged. We’re appreciative of all of her efforts, and we wish Jade all the best as she moves on to her next adventure.

I’m sure it won’t take long for Jade Raymond to find work in another leading studio, perhaps she may work with Amy Hennig once again?  Only time will tell, but we’d like to wish her well and we’ll keep you updated when we hear more news on Jade’s next chapter in her career.
