Developers of the original Dead Island and Dying Light have stated that Dying Light 2 will release this year.

To say that Dying Light 2 has had a troubled development seems to be an understatement.  It’s been delayed multiple times and most recently, indefinitely.

Earlier in the week, Techland promised to give us an update on Dying Light 2s development status and the developers have given us an update.

The update video began with members of the Techland team humorously reading out angry tweets from fans.

In a short video explaining the situation, they said: “This is a huge and complex project and we needed time to make sure it will live up to our vision“.

Dying Light 2 was initially revealed at E3 in 2018 and at E3 2019 we got quite a sizable gameplay reveal, which gave the indication that the game is making great progress to at least release by 2020.

While Techland didn’t reveal anything substantial in the update video, it was more of a reassurance that Dying Light is still in development and they hope that it will release this year.

All of us here are putting our hearts into delivering a game that you will keep playing for months,” said Techland in the statement.

Before the video closed, we saw a small snippet of gameplay with the release window of 2021.

So hopefully Dying Light 2 will actually release this year for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
