Konami and Bloober Team has officially announced a new partnership, which has fuelled speculation that a new Silent Hill game is on the way.

Rumours of a deal being made between Konami and Observer, Layers of Fear and The Medium developer have been around for a while, so this news might come as little surprise.

However, it’s intriguing nonetheless that the deal has now been made official. If you are familiar with Bloober Team’s last game, The Medium, then you will know that it is very Silent Hill inspired. So, it seems that the seeds may have been planted for a while now.

Bloober Team president, Piotr Babieno said in a statement: “It is a historic day for me and the culmination of several years of our work. The fact that such a renowned company as KONAMI has decided to strategically cooperate with the Bloober Team means that we also joined the world leaders in gaming and became an equal partner for the leading players in this market.

We look forward to combining Bloober Team’s and our respective characteristics and strengths to create high-quality content.” Added Konami director and president Hideki Hayakawa.

At this time, it’s mere speculation on whether Bloober Team will be developing a Silent Hill game, though it does seem likely that it might happen.

In my humble opinion, I am not sure how I feel about the prospect of Bloober Team developing a Silent Hill game. Silent Hill is one of my all-time favourite series, and while The Medium is a good game, Bloober Team games have always been the most consistent. That said, if the rumours are true, I hope they prove me wrong.
