Just sit right back and you’ll hear a tale. A tale of a fateful trip, that started from this tropic port, aboard this tiny ship.

It’s official: The American television classic “Gilligan’s Island” has been given the greenlight and will be adapted to the big screen. It has been reported that Warner Brothers will team up with Atlas Entertainment to produce the classic tale of the the unlucky crew of the S.S. Minnow. Apparently, Sherwood Schwartz, the original producer of the show, will be the executive producer of the film. Screenwriter Brad Copeland will be writing the screenplay for the film. While he has had some successful writing jobs for hit television shows (News Radio, Arrested Development), his only film credits include the upcoming Yogi Bear movie… and Wild Hogs.

While the cast has not been announced, rumors are flying around that Michael Cera will play Bob Denver’s role of Gilligan. That makes perfect sense in my eyes since Cera is known for his roles as the bumbling, awkward male. The only other role that’s rumored is Beyonce for the role as Ginger. I guess since Ginger was a glitzy actress, Beyonce is a great match in that aspect.

A date is not announced yet, but hopefully this 3 hour tour will not shape into a 3 hour bore.
