Microsoft are reportedly working on a new Fable game, according to anonymous sources and originally reported by Eurogamer. In response, Microsoft stated they do not comment on rumour and speculation.

The news of the revival of the classic franchise comes nearly two years after the closure of the original developers, Lionhead Studios. Reportedly, Forza Horizon developer Playgrounds will be behind the development of the Fable reboot, and it’ll be interesting to see if they can match the quality of previous games in the series.

The reasoning behind Microsoft’s sudden return to Fable is, apparently, down to the success of Guerrilla Game’s Horizon: Zero Dawn, which was one of the best games of 2017. Hopefully, this will begin a trend of new exclusives on Xbox One, an area the console has been sorely lacking in as of late, at least in comparison to its rivals.

Unfortunately, if the rumours prove true, you’ll likely have to wait a while to get your hands on a new Fable; Playgrounds is apparently staffing up in preparation for development, with a target of over 100 people working on the game.

As nothing is confirmed as of yet, this is all just speculation. Regardless, we’ll keep you updated if any more information comes to light.
