Square Enix have revealed that the box art for Sleeping Dogs has been designed by “innovative US artist” Tyler Stout.

Having rescued the game from cancellation hell (where it was lounging under the name True Crime: Hong Kong) Square Enix have decided to make sure that Sleeping Dogs gets no ordinary promotional treatment and so they hired Tyler Stout, who is “known for his creative art style, Tyler has created numerous artworks for groups as varied as Flight of the Conchords and the Alamo Drafthouse cinema in Austin, Texas.” to design the box art for Sleeping Dogs.

I’m not familiar with Tyler Stout but I like what he’s done as it adds to the excitement for Sleeping Dogs. Personally I’m hyped for this game since I always believe that the True Crime series has had potential to be fantastic and while it hasn’t lived up to that reputation, I think Sleeping Dogs will finally nail it.

Here’s a brief description of Tyler Stout:

Tyler was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest.

He’s done work for Burton Snowboards, Forum Snowboards, Libtech Snowboards, Nike, adidas, Xbox, MTV, Grenade Gloves, Etnies, Sobe, The New Yorker, as well as bands like Flight of the Conchords, Phish and Tenacious D.

He also does screenprinted posters for movies, mostly for the Alamo Drafthouse in Austin Texas. After living in Bellingham WA, Charlotte, VT and Portland, OR, he currently resides in Brush Prairie, WA, next to the house he grew up in.

What do you think of the box art for Sleeping Dogs?
