Zombie based co-operative shooters have been a quickly expanding sub-genre ever since Valve’s Left 4 Dead shambled onto the scene, and now one of gamings oldest undead franchises is joining the horde.

Resident Evil Operation Raccoon City see up to 4 players take control of an elite Umbrella unit tasked with the clean up during the infamous Raccoon City incident . Expect co-operative necrocide as you gun your way through the undead, BOWs and even series staple characters like Leon S Kennedy. While not exactly the survival horror of prior games to set foot within these city limits its shaping up to be a exciting little diversion.

Those looking forward to the game now have another set of incentives to pre-order as retailer specific bonuses have been announced. The retailers announced have been for the US with Amazon.com, Best Buy and Gamestop but if past experience is anything to go by the UK will see them come to Amazon.co.uk, Game and Play.com. All retailers get the same six alternate costumes but the weapon pack you receive will differ.

Amazon gets the so called “Renegade Weapon Pack” featuring a machine pistol (complete with flame decal) and cowboy shotgun.

Best Buy gets the “Elite Weapon Pack” consisting of the perforator shotgun and combat SMG

Gamestop gets my personal favourite of the weapon packs with the “Power Weapon Pack”, packing in a combat shotgun and anti-material rifle. Two guns your going to want to have when you come up across the Nemesis…

However there is another option, one that will allow you to claim all three weapon packs, the alternate costumes, two physical patches ready to sewn to your clothes of choice, and the obligitory brushed steel case – the Opertaion Racoon City special edition:

The special edition also includes an extra two bonus weapons, the classic grenade launcher and matilda handgun.

Having a soft spot for both Resident Evil and special editions I know which one Im going for, so which incentive are you drawn towards most?

Resident Evil Operation Raccoon City will be available 20th March 2012 for Xbox 360 and PS3
