Back on the E3 prediction podcast I had a certain idea I was pretty sure of – Metal Gear Solid 5 would be announced. I was wrong, but only by a couple of weeks.

Metal Gear?!

Yes, according to French magazine IG (via a poster on Gamekyo, who was later stated as legitimate to CVG by a spokesperson for IG magazine (are you lost yet?)), who had an interview with Kojima, Metal Gear Solid 5 is a thing. A beautiful thing as well, because its being developed on KojiPro’s fantastic Fox Engine, which unfortunately means we probably won’t see the game till the next console generation, but we fans of Metal Gear Solid are used to waiting. It will also definitely be a Solid game as Kojima has stated he isn’t done with everybody’s favourite Snake just yet.

Said to be “more of an infiltration game” MGS5 will features characters who can “interact, as seen in Deus Ex Human Revolution”. The possibilities are absolutely tantalising.

So far this is all we know, but it is still enough to make me smile like an idiot. As long as I know there’s Metal Gear out there you can colour me all sorts of shades of excited. All new Gear built on all new gear for all new gear was the top of my wishlist, now its top of my waiting list. The following horse is unrelated to MGS5 but it and the room its in were built using the Fox Engine. Yes, MGS5 could look that good.
