Nintendo Switch Lite Announced and Limited Edition Pokémon Console, a Handheld Only System

Following months of rumours, Nintendo has announced the Nintendo Switch Lite, a more “lightweight” system that is designed specifically for handheld mode.  This means that this Switch Lite will have no dock or HDMI cable bundled, as it does not support video output to a TV.  It also has no kickstand at the back (though it was a cheap kickstand anyway) nor will it have detachable Joy-Cons.  They’ll also be an official case for the Nintendo Switch Lite to pick-up at launch too.

The Nintendo Switch Lite will come in three different colours, Yellow, Grey and Turquoise and will release on September 20th with an RRP of £199.99/$199.99.  For what it is, this Lite version does seem a tad expensive when compared to the $200 price in the US, which when converted works out to be around £160.  So I hope that the UK price is fixed, because we’re being seriously overcharged in my opinion, but I won’t hold my breath.

Also, to celebrate the release of Pokémon Sword & Shield on November 8th, there will be a Nintendo Switch Lite Zacian & Zamazenta Edition Console, which looks rather snazzy.  The design of this limited edition console is based upon the two legendary Pokémon that feature in each of Sword and Sword respectively.

However, it does seem that this console will not come bundled with either game, but it does still have the same RRP as the standard Nintendo Switch Lite consoles.  Pokémon Sword and Shield itself will release on November 15th.
