Oddworld Inhabitants, creators of the Oddworld series, have announced they are bringing a physical release of Oddworld: New ’n’ Tasty to PlayStation Vita and PlayStation 4 courtesy of Limited Run Games. The PlayStation 4 version will include the Scrub costume and Alf’s Escape DLC mission, on the disc. Oddworld Inhabitants will be announcing the official release date and more information soon. They’ve officially said that it will be a worldwide release via the Limited Run Games website with a very limited number of units being produced.

Last week, Oddworld Inhabitants also revealed more information on their upcoming game Oddworld: Soulstorm. Soulstorm picks up from where the last game (New ’N’ Tasty) left off, which references Abe’s Exoddus but is not a direct re-make. In their recent press release, series creator, Lorne Lanning explained that he wanted to develop the origins and story behind the Oddworld series further rather than choose to remake the sequel.

“There was a deeper, darker, and more sinister story that we never got to tell. Soulstorm gives us the opportunity to flesh out more meat on the bones of an original spine, but re-tell the fable from a very different angle. Abe has a long way to go and plenty more adversity ahead. Soulstorm is going to be a much heavier trip for him.”

The press release also stated that the new game will offer ground breaking visuals and cinematics that we’ve yet to see in an Oddworld.

Since the partnership between Just Add Water (original development team for Oddworld) and Oddworld Inhabitants ended in 2015, Soulstorm is now being co-developed by in-house design teams in California and the UK as well as in conjunction with Frima Studio in Canada.

Oddworld: Soulstorm will be released towards the end of 2017, it’s yet to be confirmed which platforms the game will be released on but Oddworld Inhabitants plan to “unlock reveals” along the way.

Oddworld: New ’n’ Tasty is also available now as a download on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, Xbox One, Wii U, Steam, GOG and Humble. Check our our review for New ‘N’ Tasty.
